In the run up to the 4th anniversary of the war in Ukraine, The European Union in New Zealand invites people across Aotearoa New Zealand to take part in the 2026 Southern Cross Round the Bays events as a visible show of solidarity with Ukraine.
Join Team Europe, the Kiwi–Ukrainian community, and supporters on the start line in:
Wellington — 15 February 2026 Christchurch — 22 February 2026 Auckland — 8 March 2026
This is about participation, not performance. Run, walk, or jog — and be part of a community-based show of unity, shared values, and continued support for Ukraine.
What will “Going the Distance for Ukraine” involve?
• You will need to register yourself individually for Round the Bays (8.4 km or 21 km distance): https://www.roundthebays.co.nz/christchurch
• You’ll receive a free Going the Distance for Ukraine event T-shirt to wear during training and the race
• Join Team Europe for optional group training sessions
• Meet-up before and after the run for team photos and short videos, highlighting this collective show of support
